The Trump Administration is disappearing people off the streets, waging war on immigrant communities, tanking the economy, gutting the federal government, and doing everything in its power to boost fossil fuels.

They are doing this with the full backing of the billionaire class. It’s time to end the oligarchy, fight for immigrant justice, and do all we can to fight the rise of authoritarianism. The main way we’re doing that right now is our Divest from Elon campaign.

DIVEST FROM ELON

Since January, Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have driven massive assaults on environmental protections, equity practices, the social safety net, workers’ rights, LGBTQ+ rights, the rule of law, and even the basic constitutional order.

Fortunately, the public response to Musk’s attacks on democracy and common decency has already been fierce. Indeed, the movement can take significant credit for Musk’s recent retreat from government, his attempts to distance himself from politics, and his very public fall out with Donald Trump.

However, now is not the time to stop the pressure on Elon. Musk is 54-years-old. He is worth an estimated $408 billion. If we do not demonstrate deep and lasting costs to his political activity of the last 12 months, he will be an insidious force in our politics for decades to come.

Here’s how we’re holding Elon to account.

LOCAL GOVERNMENTS AND PUBLIC PENSIONS

Our Divest Public Money from Elon Musk campaign has two goals:

1. Push local city, county and state governments to stop doing business with Musk’s companies, including Tesla, X, and Starlink. This means no longer purchasing Tesla’s for city vehicle fleets, Cybertruck’s for police fleets, posting government business on X, or issuing government contracts to Starlink.

2. Push public pensions and elected financial officers to take action on Tesla. This means elected financial officers issuing public statements and writing op-eds; voting against the Tesla board at the AGM; or committing to divestment or freezing new purchases of Tesla stock.

Campaigners in California, Colorado, Maryland, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin have already started, developing organizing committees, engaging with elected officials, and drafting resolutions and/or legislation.

And just two weeks after our kickoff event, we had our first win: the $500 million Lehigh County pension fund became the first to halt all new investments in Tesla and to call for the firing of Elon Musk as the CEO of Tesla. A month after that, Charlotte became the first city to prohibit the purchasing of Teslas for its EV fleet.

T-MOBILE DROP STARLINK

T-Mobile launched its “T-Satellite” service in July 2025 through a partnership with Elon Musk’s Starlink. That means if you’re a T-Mobile customer your cell phone plan is being used to funnel profits to the extremist billionaire who spends most of his time undermining democracy and spreading hate online.

So, along with a coalition of labor unions, advocacy groups and the Tesla Takedown campaign, we’ve launched a campaign, urging T-Mobile to cancel or not renew its contract with Elon Musk’s Starlink.

You can view our letter to the T-Mobile CEO. You can get involved in the campaign by signing the petition here. Once you sign the petition, we’ll follow up with next steps about how you can get involved.

NONVIOLENT PROTEST

The grassroots, decentralised Tesla Takedown campaign has had an incredible impact: tanking Tesla’s stock and sales, and playing a major role in pushing Musk out of the government. Street protest works.

We will continue to organize, boost and amplify nonviolent protest actions designed to hold Elon Musk and other billionaires accountable, including the Stop Billionaire Summer campaign in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the ongoing protests targeting both Musk’s Tesla and Peter Thiel’s Palantir.

We will also continue to support resistance to the administration at every turn we can by boosting mass actions, marches, and pushing back on Trump’s mass deportation efforts.
